Inclusive neurotechnology

Reliable EEG for every hair type.

A passive, drop-in electrode that makes reliable scalp contact through afro-textured, coily and curly hair. No modification, no extended setup.

74%of EEG researchers report hardware problems with curly or afro-textured hair.
5 / 81reviewed EEG papers included any Black participants, and none confirmed data quality.
90%of researchers say a hardware solution would directly help their work.
The problem

EEG was built for one type of hair.

Standard cup and disc electrodes cannot reach the scalp through thick, curly or afro-textured hair. Participants are excluded, data is lost, and whole populations go unstudied.

74%

of researchers hit this, and leading manufacturers, clinics and research groups agree it is a design problem, not a limit of the science.

What that costs you

It's not just a hair problem. It's a data problem.

One design flaw shows up as three separate headaches in your day-to-day research.

Time

Setup drags on

Parting, braiding, extra gel, extra minutes per participant, just to get a usable signal through the hair that's there.

Data

Participants get dropped

Bad contact means bad signal. Bad signal means sessions get thrown out, or participants get quietly excluded from the study altogether.

Funding

Your sample isn't representative

And funders are asking harder questions about that every year, right as the pressure to diversify research is going up, not down.

How we fix it

One electrode, all three problems solved.

A passive, drop-in replacement that reaches the scalp properly the first time, for every participant who walks in.

Faster

Place, twist, gel

Because the electrode actually reaches the scalp instead of sitting on top of the hair, you're not using extra gel to bridge a gap. Prep is faster, on every participant.

Universal

Every hair type, every hairstyle

Straight, wavy, curly, coily, afro-textured, and it holds up across different afro hairstyles too, braids included. One electrode, not a workaround for some participants.

Fundable

A real answer for funders

Grant funders are actively looking for how researchers make their work more diverse and inclusive. Hardware that genuinely works on every participant is a real answer to that, not a line in an application.

How you get it

You know what it does. Here's how to get one.

Two ways in, pick whichever one is you.

01
For research labs

Test the electrode in your lab

Become an early adopter. Put Synaptive electrodes on real participants and help validate them across hair types, with units shipping from late 2026.

02
For clinics, hospitals and manufacturers

Buy or license, once validated

Register a letter of interest to purchase for clinical use, or to license the technology as an OEM, once early-adopter validation is complete.
