Syn-R1 drops into a standard cap position and connects over a 1.5 mm DIN touchproof connector. There is no separate protocol for different hair types.
Seat it in the cap position as you would a cup or disc electrode, and connect to your amplifier's 1.5 mm DIN input.
Rotate gently. The tip works through the hair to the scalp on its own. Braided and protective styles do not need to be taken out.
The sensor is already at the scalp, so you need far less gel than bridging a gap with a standard electrode. Check impedance as normal.
Every shipment includes written guidance. The Instructions for Use are in Downloads.
Any amplifier that accepts a standard 1.5 mm DIN touchproof (DIN42802) connector, which includes BrainProducts, g.tec, BioSemi, ANT Neuro and most research and clinical systems. If you are unsure, tell us your system and we will confirm.
Both. It was built for the problem standard electrodes have with afro-textured, coily and curly hair, and works equally on straight and wavy hair. One electrode for every participant.
The tip reaches the scalp through braided and other protective styles without the participant taking them out. Very dense or tightly bound styles can vary, so we ask early adopters to report what they see.
The research edition is not a certified medical device. It can be used in research studies under your own ethics approval, but it must not be used for clinical diagnosis or treatment. A clinical edition in medical-grade materials is going through Class I CE and UKCA marking, with FDA Class II to follow. See our regulatory status.
Same design, same contact mechanism, same connector. The research edition uses research-grade materials and is supplied for research use only. The clinical edition uses medical-grade materials, is going through CE marking, and will have its own price list. Compare them side by side.
